Posted by on May 21, 2018 in News and Events

Dear Master Gardeners,

I would like to thank everyone for their contributions to another successful Spring Garden Fair and Plant Sale.  The weather was a challenge this year for all the preparations for the fair, but the sun shone upon us for the entire fair.  I appreciate everyone’s efforts.

Sincerely,

Madeline

Posted by on May 18, 2018 in News and Events

The Demo Garden will be open starting at 8:00am on Saturday – Please come early and help us get ready for the Spring Garden Fair, and then stay for the member plant sale that starts at 1pm. We will be receiving many deliveries of plants starting first thing and need help unloading.

Important information about Saturday – you are welcome to park at the garden but it will be crowded.  There will be 2 Boy Scout groups in the Scout area on Saturday – Cub Scout Pack 75 will be conducting a model rocket launch from 10am -2pm, and Cub Scout Pack 34 will be camping Saturday night through Sunday am.

MASTER GARDENER MEMBER ONLY PRE-SALE AND SOCIAL
Saturday, May 19, 1:00 – 3:00pm at the Demo Garden

All members will be able to purchase plants at full retail price in advance of opening the fair to the public at your very own plant sale. To ensure a good selection of plants for the public, we have to place some limits on the amount of plants you can buy. Remember, you will also be able to purchase plants at the end of the Fair on Sunday at reduced prices-but many of the “desirable plants” will be gone by then.

You’ll be able to purchase the following at the Saturday pre-sale:
• NO LIMIT on Hanging Baskets
• 3 pots of Herbs and (1) 4 or 6 pack.
Note – Basil 6 packs are excluded from this limit
• NO LIMIT on Vegetables
• NO LIMIT on 4 or 6 packs of annuals
• NO LIMIT on assorted 4” annuals including Geraniums, Coleus, and Proven Winners
• NO LIMIT on Nursery stock
• NO LIMIT on perennials, including many choice varieties
• You can go in the greenhouse to choose your tomato and pepper plants – plants that are marked with tape are not to be taken by Master Gardeners, they are for the Sharing Garden, Cutting, Herb or Annex Gardens, or the public.

Plants marked with the flagging/caution tape are reserved for the public. We ask everyone to respect this policy. Please come and have some refreshments with us while you shop.
Depending on the weather, the Gardening Odds & Ends Table may also be open for sales to master gardeners

Boxes – all types-bring the weekend of the Fair – WE NEED 400 BOXES – If everyone just brought 4 boxes with them on Sunday we would have all the boxes we need. (Boxes should be stored in clear plastic bags and stored next to the building under the overhang- we have plastic bags at the demo garden on the kitchen counter for the boxes)

Demo Garden open this Sat and Member Pre-sale ordering information

Posted by on May 11, 2018 in Committees & Projects, News and Events, SpringFair, The Gardens

The Demo Garden is open this Saturday, May 12 from 9am to 12pm to move the Spring Fair wood tables and donated perennial plants onto the tables. Please come out and help.

Member – Pre-Sale ordering Information

We will again make annuals available during the Master Gardener Pre Plant Sale, held Saturday afternoon May 19, from 1-3pm at the Demo Garden. However, we need your help to make it a success. The spring plant sale is profitable when we sell out so we must order carefully. If you are interested in purchasing annuals at the pre-sale please send an email of the type of plant and approximate number (entire flat, a six pack, 4 inch pot) that you plan to purchase. We have the typical assortment of annuals including begonia, ageratum, alyssum, petunia, marigolds, salvia, snapdragons and zinnia. We will be using your requests for rough ordering purposes only.  There will be no holds on the day of the sale. Please send your order requests to ekathmurr@aol.com by Sunday, May 13.

Please note – due to the downy mildew problems expected again this year on Impatiens walleriana, we won’t be offering these plants for sale again this year. Popular replacements that are not affected are New Guinea impatiens, big leaf begonia and coleus. We will have a large selection of all these fine plants available to Master Gardeners and the public.

And please start saving boxes for the Fair and bring them to the Demo Garden the weekend of the Fair. Thanks, Joanne Krueger
