Continuing Education Meeting on Wednesday, March 20 @7:30 PM

Posted by on Mar 11, 2019 in Continuing Education

Please join us for our Continuing Education Meeting, Wednesday March 20, 2019, 7:30-9 in the RCE Meeting Room, 300 North Avenue East, Westfield, NJ 07090.

A Passionate Look At The World Of Bonsai

Mike Humphrey has been doing bonsai for about 40 years, as a hobbyist and a professional. His passion started in England where he is from, and where he was heavily involved in the bonsai scene, being on the boards of many clubs and societies, both as board member and President. Mike worked as the head Stylist for quite a few years in one of the largest bonsai wholesale nurseries, Kyoto bonsai in Knutsford, Cheshire. He showed his trees throughout Europe and The USA and have had his trees accepted to the US National bonsai exhibition bi-annually for last 10 years. His most recent tree will be on the cover of International Bonsai, coming out in September. The same tree will be included in an International book by the famous artist Robert Steven of Indonesia.

Mike has given talks on bonsai all over Britain and was a demonstrator at the Joy of Bonsai Celebration in Bath, England. Although he doesn’t give a lot of talks these days, he is still very active in the US bonsai scene being on board of the Mid Atlantic Bonsai societies. His plan is to bring a few trees and discuss more advanced techniques with some basic bonsai knowledge and try and give a sense to what makes good bonsai and how to achieve that.

You are welcome to bring a guest for this event! RSVP and send questions you would like covered by emailing TinaMac208@gmail.com
