Posted by on May 31, 2019 in Continuing Education, Current Class, Messages, News and Events

Hello Master Gardeners

We will be continuing our Ash Tree Survey of Union County Parks this summer to help the county develop a management plan for the Emerald Ash Borer.  Last summer a team of Master Gardeners, 4-H Master Tree Stewards and Environmental Stewards located 741 Ash Trees in 7 county parks.

We will be starting this year’s survey with a training/refresher class on Tuesday June 4 from 9:30 am – 12 noon at Trailside Nature and Science Center in one of the classrooms.  2.5 CEU’s will be offered.  No need to register, just join us on Tuesday morning at the Trailside Nature and Science Center. (452 New Providence Road, Mountainside)

New volunteers are welcome to join.  We will be surveying parks on Tuesday mornings this summer.  If you would like to volunteer for this project, but cannot attend on Tuesday, let me know

We have a small amount of flowering annual plants leftover that we cannot return to the nursery. They are in our greenhouse and we will be open this Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00am. Please be sure not to take the plants for the Sharing Garden, Annex, Cutting Garden or Herb Garden – they are clearly marked.

Annual flowers in the greenhouse are 30% off -$2.00 for a 6 pack, we have 2 hanging baskets of petunias, they are $18.00 each. We have a few Sunpatiens left over – they are $3.00 each.

Tomatoes or Eggplant in peat pots are $1.50 each.

There are free houseplants, canna bulbs, elephant ear bulbs, and chevril, cardoon, fennel herbs in the greenhouse- also clearly marked.

Our MG donated perennials are on the one back table in our outdoor potting area, and they are $1.00 each (to cover the cost of soil) The green and white hosta are NOT for sale.

Sales are on the honor system, and the money can either be sent to the Treasurer, Teresa Gibbons, or can be given to Joanne and I will get it to Terry.
Thanks for all your hard work, Joanne
