Demonstration Garden Docents Sought

Posted by on Jun 3, 2019 in News and Events

Demonstration Garden Docents Needed!

The Union County Master Gardeners are starting a Docent Program for the Demonstration Garden at Trailside. This new project is in cooperation with Reeves-Reed Arboretum.

The idea is to have Master Gardener Docents who can give tours to garden clubs and other community organizations who are interested in visiting our beautiful gardens. The Docents would also have the opportunity to volunteer at Reeves Reed Arboretum. In addition to receiving Master Gardener volunteer hours, volunteers who give tours at the Arboretum would be eligible to receive a complimentary Arboretum membership, after 12 hours of volunteer activity.

Want to be a part of this new and exciting project? There are a couple of ways to get involved:
1. We are looking for volunteers who enjoy doing plant research, to write a “script” for the docents to use as background information, about the garden, when giving the tours.

2. We are also looking for Master Gardeners who would like to be tour guides. We will have a training program at Trailside for the docents, sometime in the near future.

If you are interested, please contact Althea Llewellyn, by email or text at, 908-720-4330 or Madeline Flahive DiNardo,, 908-654-9854 ext. 4
