Volunteer Opportunities Reeves Reed Arboretum

Posted by on Apr 18, 2017 in CurrentClass, Messages

Hello Class:

Here is the information about docent training at Reeves Reed Arboretum in Summit.  This program has been approved for volunteer hours.  If you are interested in participating please contact Kathy Fox at Reeves Reed Arboretum.

Enjoy this beautiful spring weather!

Madeline

Save the date! Wednesday, April 26, 10 AM – Noon.

You’re invited to visit the Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit! Come spend a morning with us to tour the gardens, meet our horticulturists, and learn about volunteer opportunities here. We are looking for volunteer docents to lead tours. We offer weekday tours for groups by appointment and walk-in tours for the public on Saturdays. New docents will receive training and opportunities to “shadow” experienced docents before leading a tour “solo.” Most of our weekday groups are garden clubs, so you’ll have a chance to meet and chat with other enthusiastic gardeners. There’s always something to learn here!

Please RSVP to Kathy Fox, Volunteer Docent Coordinator, at rragardendocents@att.net

No Class Tuesday March 14

Posted by on Mar 13, 2017 in CurrentClass, Messages

Hello Class,

Due to the impending snow storm Tuesday morning, I am cancelling class for Tuesday March 14.   It looks like on Groundhog’s Day, Punxsutawney Phil had it right and Staten Island Chuck and  Jersey’s own, Milltown Mel, had it wrong!

We will make up the pesticide class at a later date.  Next week March 21, we will have the Mosquito Control and Committee Chair class.  IPM assignment #1 is due.

We will NOT be opening the greenhouse and Demo Garden on Tuesday.   Once the road is plowed and we can shovel our sidewalk, we will reschedule the greenhouse opening and let everyone know.

Look forward to seeing you next week,

Madeline
