New Docent Program started at the Demonstrations Garden

The Reeves-Reed Arboretum Docent program has been an approved Master Gardener project for many years.  Last summer we expanded the program by starting a docent program for our demonstration garden.  Our goal is to offer guided tours of the demonstration garden to community groups, provide tours to the public at special county events at Trailside, the Spring Garden Fair and  at scheduled summer evening programs.

Last summer, we had planning and training meetings, practice tours and are working on a script for  our tour guides.  Our newly minted docents gave tours of the demonstration garden during the Rockin’ the Reservation event in the Fall 2019.

Save the date – We will have our Demonstration Garden Docent planning meeting for the 2020 growing season on Thursday April 2, from 2:00 -3:30 pm at the RCE office classroom.  – more details to follow.

New docents are welcome! If you’re interested in joining the docent team, please contact Althea Llewellyn, AltheaL746@gmail.com or 908-720-4330.
